Jesus Doesn't Change

Life is full of beautiful things and moments we wish could last forever, but that is just not the reality we live in. Although in the beginning, some things seem like they will never end. As a child, you never consider the fact that your parents and grandparents will get older. You never think that being able to play baseball outside with all your friends will end. As a new parent, you wish that sweet little baby would never have to grow up. When you begin a career, it seems like it will go on forever, but then 20-30 years fly by, and it is time to retire. It is not until you grow up and experience life that reality sets in and you realize that life goes on, and things we wish could last forever simply do not. Everyone must bury parents, grandparents, and other family members. Baseball ends. The babies grow up and eventually the career ends.

However, throughout all those things we experience in life, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ never changes, and He never leaves or forsakes us. Everything about this life changes and ends eventually but Jesus is our one foundation that remains the same throughout all those experiences. Hebrews 13:5 says “For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. So, we may boldly say “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”” And Hebrews 13:8 says that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

How comforting is it to know that no matter what we are going through, whether it is a high in life or a low in life, that nothing ever changes with Jesus? We do not have to worry about changes made to the gospel, or the love of Jesus ending. The same Jesus we read and learned about when we first obeyed the gospel, is the same Jesus we will be reading and learning about during our last days. 1 Peter 1:22-23 “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.”
